Sometimes, we only focus on what we don’t have. I have heard some friends say that having a gratitude list is a cliche, I call it not taking things for granted. I look at it as counting my blessings. There are so many things I am grateful for that I’ll be sharing with guys.
An attitude of gratitude gives meaning to our lives and motivates us to keep pushing even when we don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Bisi
Thanksgiving is my second favorite holiday after Christmas. I like the idea of reuniting with my extended family and friends, while also taking the time to reflect on the good things that are happening in my life or the lessons I’ve learned from setbacks. I am grateful for each and every day that I have the opportunity to live.
Here are seven things that I am grateful for:
Growth in my faith
I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve prioritized so many other things before my relationship with God, but when I was at rock bottom He showed up and showed out. He reminded me that he is always faithful and just, and all I have to do is keep seeking him.
My health
I am grateful to have a healthy mind and body that allows me to live my life with the energy to do whatever I want.
Family
Also, thankful for my family, especially for my three healthy, amazing, handsome boys. They filled my world with so much joy, love and peace.
I mentioned on Instagram last week that my son told me I’m doing a great job as a mom. I’m going to tell you the story in case you missed it, and this has been a highlight for me.
So here we go:
I had a school project where I was supposed to write about what I am best skilled at. I asked Joseph Jr. (my oldest), what is one thing that I am really good at? His response was “being a mom.” and he emphasized that he is always grateful to have me as his mom. Y’all! I cried happy tears, my heart was full.

Self-worth
This year has been more about unlearning the thought of being unworthy of all things bright and beautiful. Growing up, I always dream big, but didn’t have the voice to back it up. In my head, I know what I wanted but my dreams were too big for the environment that I was in.
Now I know better, so instead of thinking I only deserve the bare minimum, I ask myself, why not me? How does it make sense for me to put in the work and not reap the benefits? These are tough questions, but I am glad I am choosing a path to stop low-balling myself, to advocate more for me, and also know that self-worth is God’s gift.
Finances
In 2020, my family went from having two incomes with two children to one income with three children. During this time, I have not lacked any need. A few weeks back, there was a talk on social media about the rising cost of fuel.
In all humbleness, it was something I had overlooked, but knowing I am secure even when the price of things is going up is a blessing. This is something, I will never take for granted. Also, this is serving as a reminder for me to pay more attention to my finances.
A community
When I think about my community, YOU came to mind. Thank you for spending the time to read my work.
A year ago, I was nervous about starting my influencing/blogging journey, but having your love and support shows how great things can be accomplished when you surrounded by the right people.
So, thank you for creating a space where I can learn, unlearn, grow, and change, and I also appreciate all of the pep talks that are putting me in a position to win. Thank you so much for every interaction, love, and motivation.
God has blessed me with an amazing, engaging community, and I am grateful for y’all!
The Lessons
For me, setbacks are viewed as an opportunity to learn something, either directly or indirectly. I’ve come a long way. Despite the challenges and disappointments, I am doing great things, I am full of motivation and still working hard.
When I’m feeling down, I look back at the things I have overcome, and it always serve as a great reminder that no matter what the storm looks like, I will get pass it.
What is something you are grateful for?
I understand that it can sometimes be difficult to see what we can be thankful for when we are juggling so many challenges
Cheers to a wonderful thanksgiving!
Now, it’s your turn, comment at least one thing that you are thankful for?
