My great solo date experience at PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans, 2022

Solo dates are an opportunity to embrace the adventure of solitude. It also helps build self-confidence!

Sitting by yourself in certain surroundings can feel awkward. When I first started going on solo dates, I usually spent the entire time on my phone, which defeats the purpose of why I went out in the first place. Solo dates for me are a way of feeling confident in enjoying my own company. I had a fantastic experience at PJ’s of New Orleans cafe a few weeks ago, and I’m going to tell you everything about it.

I have always been someone that enjoys spending time by myself. Motherhood changed that, but I’m slowly getting back into finding balance with the amount of time I spend with myself and others. I’m intentional about going on a solo adventure once every month. For my most recent solo date, I went to a PJ’s coffee shop near me. I searched for a coffee shop with good reviews in the Fort Worth area, and PJ’s of New Orleans came up, and their images online matched what I was looking for.

PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans is a family business that offers a large selection of hot, iced, and frozen coffee drinks, as well as organic tea and freshly baked morning pastries. On PJ’s website, it shows that their famous coffees are brewed daily using a special cold-drip process that protects the flavor and strength of the beans while producing a coffee that is 2/3 less acidic. They are located in about 15 states. Check to see if they are in your area.

Being in a place with great ambiance and quietness, coffee was a plus. This was my first solo date in three years. I wanted it to be great!

What were my Expectations?

I wanted some dedicated alone time where I could disconnect from my busy schedule. Being in a place with great ambiance and quietness, the coffee was a plus. This was my first solo date in three years, and as I mentioned earlier, my previous solo dates always felt awkward. This time, I was intentional. I’m glad I chose a great place like PJ’s Coffee. I wanted it to be great!

Nothing beats the welcome I received when I entered this cafe. I ordered the Granita (a cold frozen coffee drink that is smooth in texture and full of flavor), took a seat by the window, and dig deep into my book.

They even gave me some beignets to try. They tasted great and I loved them! It’s also a great place for a solo study session or to host your coffee date or small gatherings. The place is not too big, but there is an outside space that can be used. I’m looking forward to trying the cappuccino chocolate chip muffin on my next visit.

I’ll be back! The ambience, comfortable seating, excellent service, plus I love the great music playing in the background! It’s just an all-around welcoming environment. This has been my best solo date, and it has given me the confidence to go more on my solitude adventure.
