I have never been a fan of trench coats until I recently tried it. In Africa, it is mostly hot so people don’t care about it. While in the United States, the humidity in Dallas is high, I never think I have a need for this type of coat. When I see a trench coat, the first thing that comes to mind is that people use it to stay warm.
But let me tell you, there are so many lightweight coats to transition from warm weather to cooler weather and vice versa.
My friend and I decided to style a trench coat in three ways.
Street style
This is a casual and comfortable look. You can never go wrong with skinny jeans and t-shirts, then add a pair of boots, loafers, or sneakers, and you can start your day looking like the rich aunty, who runs errands looking gorgeous.
Do you remember the famous saying, “when in doubt, wear black”? Well, that’s a fact. Black makes most clothing look cooler.
Edgy style
Black outfits under the trench coat create a classy, elegant, and rich look.
chic style
If you are not in the mood to dress up, you can wear some comfortable clothes and use your coat as a dress. Also, adding color to the trench coat allows you to stand out from the popular neutral colors that most people like.
Do you like trench coats? How do you like to wear it? If you’re not a fan or are unsure if it’s right for you, I recommend giving it a shot to see how you feel before tossing it to the curb.
Oh! This is some life advice, so take it as your cue to try new things.
Trench coats are a worthy investment. You will be getting a versatile piece for your wardrobe.
